  11. I would appreciate it if anyone could tell me where to get parts for my 
  12. 1084S-D1.  I saw that Better Concepts has a $10 grab bag but have yet to
  13. call them to find out whats in it.  If anyone has a reputable dealer with
  14. service center that has spare parts or access to order some PLEASE let me
  15. know.  OR if anyone knows a Electronics Shack that has parts in stock PLEASE
  16. email me with the info.  BTW: the tube is an Orion.

  20. MY SPECIFIC PROBLEM (or not):

  22. I was watching tv on my 1084 (its good for that you know :) when the screen
  23. shot blank and a high pitched whining noise started.  So I quickly shut it
  24. off and ripped the back off the monitor.  I found out that the noise is
  25. being emited somewhere near the transformer.  But I am not sure exactly
  26. where.  As there is a big heat sheild near it with a funny looking diode on
  27. it shaped like a rectangle with pointed ends screwed and heat wielded to it.
  28. Also there is a big capacitor next to it.
  29. I was pretty sure that the transformer was making the noise so I desoldered
  30. it and pulled it out and reapplied power...... The noise stopped, which is
  31. understandable since the power could go no further :)  so I put it back in
  32. and resoldered it and the noise came back :(I hoped it was a solder joint) 
  33. so I think I need a new transformer.

  35. I have heard that this is a common problem as a friend of mine has a couple
  36. of 1084's that a broke with one doing the same as mine (to bad ones not
  37. 1084s-d1 so I could disect it).

  39. I would appreciate it if ANYONE has any help for me as I am stuck using this
  40. god awefull tty terminal until my monitor is fixed and I can go back to
  41. using my amiga (long live it).
